What's So Special About Christmas ?

Days of joy, merriment, peace, happiness, and generosity. Dreams of wonderlands, sleigh bells, snowy days, and fireside gatherings. Hearts full of hope and goodwill to all men. Bright spirits of red and green adorning the world. Goodness, Greetings, and Gladness. Gracious gifts of cookies, cakes, chocolates, cards, and caroling. Special signs of thoughtfulness and thankfulness. The best in mankind blossoming anew. Family festivities of laughter and love. Moments of pain, memories again. Reflections on tomorrow and lost yesterdays. Letting go and letting others be. Nostalgic Noels. Holy meditations. Faith and friends and forever stars. New beginnings. Christmas is a special time.

Once a year for three weeks, Christians seem to be able to follow Christ’s example and become their best selves. Acceptance, Forgiveness, Kindness and Smiles abound temporarily. But please be reminded this year that we are part of a global community, where many of our fellow world citizens do not have the privilege of celebrating anything. Many in the world, like the few remaining in Aleppo, are struggling to survive.

Be happy, but don’t forget to be grateful and share with others whenever you can. During this special season of the Christmas soul, don’t forget to count the many blessings bestowed on you by God and your country, and try to practice the Christmas spirit throughout 2017 with an attitude of gratitude. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
